Tango in Patagonia

You´re never too young to learn to tango

Bariloche, in the heart of Patagonia, is a popular city for tango dancers from all over Argentina as well as for Spanish students and tango enthusiasts from around the world. Our tangueria is open every night and in the Fall we even have an International Tango Festival.

Participating in past festival were  musicians and singers such as Juan Carlos Copes and Horacio Ferrer, Graciela Novellino,  Juanjo Miraglia,  Raúl Lavié,  Dema.  Orchestras like Ultratango, Hache Tango , Las del Abasto, Altertango, Orquesta Color Tango, Orquesta Petitera   and dancers like Iván Romero y Marcela Vespasiano  recent world stage champions. Artist and painter of tango scenes Carlos Nine was also present.

At the tangueria teachers show any corte or quebrada that comes to mind. And after 10 PM the milonga starts. Most tango and Spanish students stay into the wee hours dancing to the live orchestra. Of course the musicians play every Tanguero´s  request. Most weekends there are tango shows and jam sessions in town.

Even during our prestigious Semana Musical Llao Llaothat takes place every October, here in the heart of Patagonia, one evening is dedicated to tango music. In 2005  the Quinteto de la Fundación Piazzolla played to a standing room only audience. And in 2006 Leo Sujatovich played  Tango Brujo with world renown composer and tango historian Horacio Ferrer .
